Lewa: Master of Jungle

Okay then everyone, it's finally happening. There's no denying Bionicle's coming back now and we've got official images for some of the sets from the first wave. One interesting thing to note here is that Lewa's now the Toa (or master) of jungle rather than air which makes this seem more and more like a reboot than a continuation. But onto the set itself, I'm really liking those spike pieces being used as shoulder armour and it really does give some well needed bulk to this figure. The mask looks a bit off but never the less I'm willing to go with it. The use of the yellow works with the jungle theme they're going for although I'm not sure how well it would fit air.

We also have the return of mata green by the looks of things which is fitting. However, it feels like they should have included just one more green piece and maybe one less silver. The weapons look unique enough but what interests me most of all is the knee-cap pieces which look a lot like the Inika leg armour, or course it's not but it's definably hearkening back to that. The spider looks rather basic in this one and maybe a bit out of place in the jungle with it's solid blue colour but it looks good enough to me. Looking at the background of the set we seem to have these huge spires which could have some relevance to the story and that's definably spiders I can see climbing up them. Whether they're attacking sacred objects or merely climbing them remains to be seen. Overall it looks like a good but rather basic set to me. Air (or what used to be air and is now jungle) was often my favourite but this set, while not terrible, is just not up to the standard of many of the others which look absolutely incredible. Anyway, be sure to share your thoughts on Lewa below.

Bionicle Returning?

Purely romoured at the moment but if it is fake then someone went to a lot of effort to create this:

Rahkshi Gui [Initial Design]

So I know it has been a long time since anyone's posted here, but the other day I was suddenly urged to open up some of my LEGO boxes and just make something. I went in not knowing what I wanted to design, but I think I made something cool consequently. Turning to the Zoids franchise for inspiration, I designed the Rahkshi Gui (its name is a tip of the hat to its exact inspiration, the BioRaptor Gui); it is a powerful, well-rounded aerial drone that was designed in a world that I conceive to be very different then the traditional Bionicle universe. Years after the fall of the Makuta many Toa have simply died of old age. In their replacement, the Matoran/Agori employ drones to settle the occasional conflict. One tribe however has turned to the ways of the arcane, mixing modern and ancient technologies to create one of the most powerful armies [of all time]. Its spread from the North has left a trail of devastation in its wake with virtually nobody stopping it. Until ... something, I haven't worked it out that far yet. Nevertheless, I thought it would be cool to share it with you guys...

Yours Truly,
